Cork beneath the R pinky F/C key.

Hello: The R pinky G#/D# key has a sound damping material beneath the key. The furthest pinky key does not. Is this the usual set up ? If not, is installing this damper a difficult job ?

Thanks

The Ab/Eb key needs silencing material on the underside of the touchpiece to silence it as it makes contact with the stopper arm - the thickness determines the venting or the stopper arm can be bent to do the same thing.

The F/C touchpiece doesn't need any silencing material on the underside of it as it's already on the linkage piece around the back and also on the crows foot. Likewise with the RH F#/C# and E/B touchpieces.

If the underside of the F/C touchpiece clatters against the E/B touch, then the F/C cup arm could be bent up or the touchpiece could be bent down, or the E/B key could be bent up. There should be enough clearance between the underside of the F/C and uppermost side of the E/B touchpieces when the F/C touch is held down and the E/B open. If not, then you'll have to bend things so you don't get any clattering (and still have everything in regulation).

Thanks very much. I'll bring the horn in as it must be bent. It's a 40 year old Evette. Lot's of fixed cracks, but still plays fine for me..... I'm putting off my GAS as long as I can.
