 Robert Scott barrel - heated

I was able to remove Robert Scott barrel which was stuck on upper joint.
Local repairman told me to get hot water on the barrel and it worked.
Barrel was expanded by hot water and it was easy to remove it from upper joint.
Now, my question is....
Does this barrel get back to its original dimension?
Can this barrel be as same as before?

Presumably yes. We'talking fractions of a fraction of a millimeter here. Same dimensional changes can happen when playing through the seasons.
