Hi
Recently the question cam up if my 2 year old Buffet Crampon R13 could be authenticated. I had not thought about since I purchased it from one of the oldest and reliable dealers in Vermont. When I went to the Buffet webpage it said my serial number was not listed. I called the dealer and he in turn said none of his current professional models could be found. Then I wrote an email to Buffet (USA address) and did not receive an answer. Any thoughts?
Enjoy

The highest professional model serial number I could find on the Buffet list is 570040, which is identified as an R13 made on Jan. 22, 2007. (Interesting, since 570000 is identified as an R13 made on Jan. 23, 2007!) Note that the copyright date of the Buffet serial number list (and a number of other pages at the site) is 2006. I suspect they simply haven't updated the list in (quite) a while. I expect Buffet will eventually get back to you. If they don't, ask the dealer who sold you the instrument to contact them. They might be more inclined to respond to a dealer. If you bought the instrument from a reputable dealer, don't worry about it. (In any case, finding your serial number in a list wouldn't be an "authentication" in any case. If the clarinet is a counterfeit, the serial number could be as well.)
Best regards,
jnk

Email Buffet France from the contact link on their website. Although it sometimes takes a few days, they have always answered every email I've ever sent.
