I recently graduated with a M.M in Clarinet Performance and am interested in trying out some new equipment. I playing with an Eddie Daniels ligature and I have taken out the metal slip from the inside of it. My sound does not seem to be as responsive as it used to be. I switched reeds... I was playing on Rico Grand Concert Selects and Vandoran V12s, but I recently switched to regular Vandorans. I like the blue box Vandorans a lot better, but still feel that the sound is not as responsive... especially the lower notes, including E. When I am decrescendoing to pp... the tone on the E sort of stops and does not fade away. This only happens when I play the right hand E.
Does anyone have any suggestions to help my sound become more responsive?

Oh... and fyi... I am interested in purchasing either a new Buffet A clarinet or a used A. If anyone is trying to sell one, please contact me.

I'm confused about what you mean when you say "sound more responsive." Do you mean that you want easier articulation? Cleaner articulation sound? Easier response playing wide intervals? Or some quality of sound, like "brightness"?

If the right hand E is dodgy, I'd get the clarinet checked out, cause it will probably need adjusting.
I use a Pomarico Nigun Crystal with a Vandoren Optimum lig, with the Blue Box (I'm too cheap to buy V12s) and I find the low notes very clear, no wavering and can play very very softly.
Might be an idea to try a different lig, but I've never tried an Eddie Daniels, but I'm guessing theyre a bit jazzy?

Most of this sounds to me like a problem of reed adjustment - your reeds aren't vibrating as easily or efficiently as they could be.
The tone's stopping on RH E but not LH E sounds like a problem with the instrument. Are you pressing the RH F/C key while you play LH E? You probably don't press LH F/C when you play E with your RH. If so, the F/C pad probably isn't covering tightly enough when you press E/B - that's a simple mechanical adjustment. See if the RH E works better if you press LH F with it.
General problems with response in the lower chalumeau can be caused either by unresponsive reeds or small pad leaks (the effects accumulate as you go lower on the RH). It wouldn't hurt to have the clarinet checked by a good repair tech.
There are a number of sources for advice on adjusting reeds (do a search here and find references to several). What adjustments to make depend on your mouthpiece and embouchure style.
