OK, I'm fixing up an old case for a Bundy that was given to/dumped on me. The case itself is in decent shape inside and out and the latches work. However, the padding in the top half (the side that closes on top of the horn) while still firmly adhering to the velvet liner, is unglued from the plastic case. A former owner used the space to store music and reeds.
I want to reattach the padding to the plastic but I haven't got a clue what kind of glue to use. Suggestions? Hot melt glue? I don't think Elmer's Glue-All will work.

Have you tried contact cement? Upholtery shops used it for *everything*. It's available, in small bottles, in hardware stores and home repair outlets and at some of the larger supermarkets.

I used weatherstrip adhesive that I bought at the auto parts store to glue the plastic form back into an old Leblanc case that had come loose. This glue holds tenaciously to the plastic. It is an easier glue to use than contact cement, because it lets you reposition the part a little bit as you install it.

Todd -
The weatherstrip adhesive sounds much better. For sure, contact cement won't let you move things. Once they're stuck, they're stuck; you'll need solvent to get 'em undone.
What's the weatherstrip stuff called? I have a couple of cases that need some attention too

ron b-The stuff I've used is 3M weatherstrip adhesive, aka: gorilla snot! Permatex brand is also good, is yellow colored instead of brown/black; and is less costly too.

You might try a construction adhesive like liquid nails. This is thicker and will fill gaps, be SURE to get the formula that is safe for plastics (it will say safe for foam, or for bath tub walls.)
