 Dating Chedeville by facing designation?
Author: salzo

I know there is a lot written on the board about ways of dating when a Chedeville was made.
One thing I have not seen written about is the facing designation.
I have an older Chedeville, which has a "6" inscribed for the facing.
I have a newer one, that has the letter "B".
I have also seen some where the facing is designated "MO".
It seems they used different facing nomenclature at different times-anyone have any insight on this?

I'm not a Chedeville expert, but I do have a lot of knowledge regarding them.

Before I make any comments can you tell us about the placement of the Chedeville logo. Is it in a oval or in a straight slanted angle with the name starting from the bottom of the MP heading up?

Bob-
I am not trying to date a specific mouthpiece- It just seems that there might be a way of approximating a date based on how the facing is named.
Sometimes they used numbers, sometimes they used lettters.
I am not expert, but I know that on earlier ones, a number, 6, 7 or 8 was used to designate the facing.
I have a mouthpiece with the letter "B"- so I assume a lettering system was used (A-D?)
I have seen a few with "MO" (medium open?).
I would think that these facing naming systems that were used, were not used at the same time, and that a date could be assigned to each system.

Salzo, I'm afraid I don't have any info regarding facings.
