I recently saw an old wooden Moennig Bros Artist clarinet at the local antique/junk shop. Definately dusty, but no obvious cracks/chips (can't tell leaks, of course.) While I doubt much value in the clarinet as a whole...any value to having the barrel?

Doubtful.
I do not think these instruments were made by Hans.
Probably they came from Gebruder Moennig Co.(Brothers Moennig) who made the bassoons.
The original Moennig barrel was made by him (W. Hans ) for Buffet instruments, had the Buffet logo, and those made by Hans himself had NO designation on the barrel other than the Buffet insignia.
My own original Moennig barrel came with the new Buffet instrument that he sold me, and the barrel actually looked a bit older or shop-worn than the rest of the new horn (1962).

Moennig Bros. was a German firm that made REALLY bad clarinets.
Hans Moennig was a distant cousin who came to Philadelphia, where he made reverse-taper barrels of his own design. A Moennig Bros. barrel would have no relation and would be, essentially, worthless.

Thanks for the advice! That's what makes this board such a great resource.
