Sorry for my bad english speaking, I'm italian.
The question is:
I'm searching a clarinet with all holes closed with keys: no finger closing.
Like a saxophone.
Does it exist?
Lots of thanks
Enrico

Hello, Enrico -
Your English is excellent.
Yes, they exist. They're called 'plateau' clarinets. They have most of the top holes, as well as the thumb hole covered. Some models have all of the holes covered by flat, (oboe or flute style) pad keys. I have one that has all except the third hole covered. I think they might have to be 'special order' but I'm not sure about that.

Check into a bass clarinet. The fingering is he same as for the regular clarinet, but the horn is about three time bigger. The keys are like a sax. It is really a great horn.

In addition to the professional model that jbutler cites, Leblanc also makes their student model (the Vito) available in the plateau style. However, you will almost certainly have to ask a dealer to special order them as most dealers do not keep either one in stock.

I have a student level plateau clarinet which is in need of a repad. I acquired this a year or so thinking that I'd repad it and then make it available at some point for someone who needed this type of setup. It's a Normandy and is plastic and I haven't gotten around to having it repadded. I think I have too many projects right now, so if someone is interested in the horn, I would probably let it go pretty reasonably.
