Yeah...wow, what a bargain. Not only is the Buffet played by Woody Herman starting at $9000, the reserve is not yet met at that price!

I rushed right over to EBAY but, alas, could not locate this clarinet thus negating the opportunity of a lifetime dream of my study of the art of clarinetistry--the chance to sound like Woody Hermann. And to think the used a Buffet.........boogles the mind. Merry-Merry and Happy-Happy EVERYONE in 2001.

Bob -
I, too, rushed right over to eBay...
It was only a month or so ago that Benny Goodman's old splintery Albert system was up for auction. He'd somehow left it behind the bleachers one night after a hard romping concert and didn't realize it 'til the next day, way too far down the road to turn back and recover it. I just missed my big chance to bid on that one and was hoping to grab the brass ring this time around with Woody's horn. Sadly, I couldn't find it. Do you have an item number? Do you know the Seller's address? His license plate number? I want to get there before the throngs descend so I can make an offer that can't be refused. I know everyone will be clammoring to get a front row bid in... but, maybe if I plead dementia and look a little more forlorn than usual - they'll treat me kindly. All I need is some of the magic in that old horn of Woody's. With that horn's magical properties one would never need to practice again - throw away your troublesome old reeds - just toot your way to overnight fame and fortune. Tell me, please, where, oh where, has Woody's little horn gone?
:)
Happy Holidays, Bob... and ALL !

Donn:
No this was for real--someone is selling woody old R13 on ebay at a starting price of only $9000. They received zero bids, so I'm sur they are opened to an offer.
Or I'll sell you mine for $8500.
Merry Christmas

I looked up the serial number and it was made in the 1950's, not in the '40's as the ebay ad stated.

OH no! Do you suppose some of the provenance might be incomplete?
So much for me taking my lamp to AR, the "Cash in your legacy!!" TV show.
Oh well, at least my bucket of rusting tools continues to appreciate.

Just add a little saddle soap and liberal amounts of salt and you have an instant priceless piece of history there. Be sure to set your reserve on high. Keep your eye on that star!

I'm surprised Mark hasn't told Bob to sell his $8500 horn in the classified section and not here!
And if clarinet on Ebay was made in the 1950's, maybe it is Woody Allen's, not Woody Herman's. Woody Allen probably got himself a newer Korean-made student-model horn and is dumping the older one.
