A clarinet can play the trumpet range if you want to find a piece for two trumpets. In the same key too. It's an option.

If you want to add piano and drum set to the mix, Paul Bowles' "Music for a Farce" is a neat piece!

I agree, anything written for two trumpets, with or without piano, in Bb can be played for clarinet and trumpet. For that matter, music for two oboes or saxaphones will work as well if you both play in the same key, unless there's a piano involved of course. That will give you the largest pool of music to choose from. It will just be a matter of balance. ESP http://eddiesclarinet.com

Carlson's Kit is a duet written for Steve and Patti Carlson (Virginia Philharmonic Principal Trumpet/Clarinet).
Thomas Rice wrote it. Patti was my first private clarinet teacher when I lived in the Va Beach area before moving up to Phila.
Ironically, I learned about the piece from my teacher at the Luzerne Music Festival as a Senior in High School - her husband was a trumpet player too.

Hi,
If you have a few percussionists handy, you might consider 'Ritmo Jondo' by Carlos Surinach.
I played it a few years ago, it went down quite well.
