 Auguste Buffet Mouthpiece
Author: jnswickard

Yesterday, in a fit of curiosity, I decided to match mouthpieces up with two recently repaired clarinets (a near full Boehm Auguste Buffet--early 1920's, and a Selmer Paris Series 9).
After trying the usual suspects I tried the old Auguste Buffet Mouthpiece (skilfully worked on by Dave Spiegelthal) on the Auguste Buffet and was amazed at how well it really worked. Played easily and went through the registers easily. I am suspecting that this will become the permanent MP on this horn.
The Selmer Series 9 seems best with a Selmer Clarion Crystal MP from my collection. I actually liked it better than the HS**
I do, of course, have the usual suspects--B45, B40, 5RV, Gigliotti Maestro, and a Charles Bay.
I suppose my only point is that I was truly amazed at how good a mouthpiece can be and yet go ignored and unused.
Anyone else with similar experiences???
