I wouldn't worry about the longer upper joint. I have (without thinking.....what I do best) used standard Buffet single cases and Leblanc Concerto (older style) cases with no problem at all. I have, but have not used the BAM single case. I would think that this should work even better since the foam in these cases is more malleable.
The CSG case has no room and doesn't even stay open as you try to take the instrument in or out. The only positive thing to say about it, is that a friend of mine needed the smallest possible case to transport a clarinet in luggage overseas. Without the outer cover, this case fit the bill perfectly !!!

I like the look of Protec cases. Just try it. Put your horn in it and see if it works. The barrel will look silly in a spot too big for it but who cares.

The Bam cases work fine with the CSG. The upper joint will be snug at first, but later the foam will adjust to the shape just fine.

I don't have any experience with Yamaha CSG or Bam cases for German system clarinet. I think I saw it once on the Bam website(didn't find anything when I looked at their homepage today) and I googled it and some retailer in Germany did sell X-Light double case for German system.
When I think about it I think we had this discussion before here on the board and someone said that German system case were not an option for the Yamaha CSG.

I agree with Justin -
When I was playing the CSG, I used the BAM case. The "give" in the foam made it easy to sude the upper without damaging the keys.

I forget the name of the Bam I use, but it's the rectangular double one. And if I remember, it was Scott who first recommended it to me.

Those are BAM's "Trekking" model and there are both single and double versions. They have more space than BAM's "light" cases which are smaller.

I received the ProTEc's I ordered today; the good news is the CSG fits well enough in both the "Carry-all" and the slimline; actually fits the slimline a bit better. I sent the Carry-all" back as it is not only very large, but very heavy due no doubt to a wood case. I wish there were something between the two although I like the compactness of the slilmline Propac. A lot less $$$$ than the BAM, but maybe I'll try the BAM also------ thanks for all the input!
Also tried it in a Buffet R-13 attache case and works there too!

I sent the Protecs back and am now using the Bam single "trekking"model; I like it and the horn fits fine.

I was very impressed by the cases made by Wiseman that were exhibited at the ClarinetFest 2010 in Austin. I would investigate those before purchasing anything.
