I feel very unqualified to say this, but Griffith is fairly pleasant to listen to. He does carry a different vibe and tone to the perfectionist that was Shaw, but then again it is fruitless to emulate Artie. Although by no mean as precisely pronounced as Artie, Griffith is accurate with his own narrative. The accents are not as stated as to Shaw, but perhaps that comes more or less from one's bias over the piece than a technical issue.

More info from Matt's MOM:
"In 2010 alone he won two national competitions (President's Own U.S. Marine Band High School Concerto Competition in February and the United States Army Field Band Young Artists Competition in March), with both final rounds being in the Washington DC area. He also won the Wisconsin Public Radio's Neale-Silva Young Artists Competition here in our state and the John Michael Kohler Arts Senior Honors Recital Competition here locally. All of these wins meant his April was pretty busy--April 8 he performed as guest soloist with the US Army Field Band in Indianapolis, flew home to perform in a concert broadcast live on Wisconsin Public Radio from Union Theater in Madison on April 11, off to Alexandria VA to perform as guest soloist with the President's Own Marine Band on April 18, and then flew home to get in a couple of rehearsals and concert with the Artie Shaw at his high school on April 25."
In the fall, I am told that Matt will be attending Yale and studying with David Schiffrin. Sounds like he is "on his way".

lol. Another kid showing me why I won't be the one making it to a symphony! Ah well. Glad he had the talent, drive, and opportunity to work with it. Let's see what comes of it.
