I'm interested in the replies you get because I'm having similar (can't breathe) in the first movement of Weber's 2nd concerto.
I find that I can get through your section in one breath, but that it helps to grab a big breath in the 1/8th rests in measures 252 AND 256. (Stock up on air.)
Finally, take another breath after the extended 1/4 note in measure 270.

Thank you very much!!!!
out of curiousity, is it in the last section roughly bars 220, to 234 (ish)? as i am going to start looking through this concerto as well and that passage looks particularly long just from the sight reading i have done on this passage
thanks again

Simon,
My breathing challenge in the Weber Opus 74 is between Measures 124 and 134. My teacher went over it with me, and suggested that I breathe after the 1/8th notes in measures 124, 128, 130 (there's an 1/8 rest there).
It will take me some time to be "on top of things" through that passage so that I can think to breath without getting behind the metronome.
Good Luck (to both of us).

I'm not going to be specific but sometimes it's prudent to leave out a 16th note here and there to keep the line moving. If you decide to do that make sure it doesn't interfere with the melodic line. That usually means leaving out a note at the end of a measure not in the middle. You do have to use common sense when doing this and not do it too often. ESP http://eddiesclarinet.com

In a pinch, you could leave out one of the staccato 16th notes between bars 269 and 272 (i.e., the second 16th note of a beat, because it's unaccented).
The best one of these to leave out is probably the 2nd 16th note in bar 272, because the 2 16th notes immediately following it act like pickup notes into a new passage. So if you leave out that 2nd 16th note in bar 272, it won't sound like you left out a note in the middle of a passage. It will instead sound as if Weber wrote it that way (with the current passage ending on the first note of the bar, and the next passage's pickup notes following on the upbeat of beat 1).
