Hi all,
I just got my Pomarico Jazz* mouthpiece and wonder what reed brand and size works best for that particular mouthpiece or for clarinet jazz playing in general. I'm currently using Rico Grand Evolution size 2.5 on it but its not the sound that I want. Thanks.

I have a P "jazz 1" and it played wonderfully with the Legere #3.0 reed. I gave up using cane reeds years ago because I do a lot of doubling and the bass often sits on the stand a while between selections. However, my preferred bass mouthpiece is a vintage Grabner CX_BS which has better tone quality and is more dynamically flexabile. The Pomarico is a very close second. FWIW, my bass is a Buffet Prestige low C.

I'm not clear if this is a BC mpc. But for BC I use a Pamarico Jazz ** that is slightly more open with a longer lay, and I use a Legere #2. The Backun Bass + I have and use too is very, very close to it.
Regards,
LCL

You just have to try several different cuts and strengths to see what you like. No one can tell you what you will sound best on. Rico makes about five different cuts, try them all. Of course there are many other brands as well for you to try. Experiment. ESP http://eddiesclarinet.com
