Just after a short trip on the Vandoren website, I stumbled upon these... Well, I just switched to V12's on my Bb clarinet and love them. I'd love to see how they feel on bass!
Has anyone tried them?

First I have heard of it. Next time I go reed shopping, I will grab a box. That might not be until clarinetfest though. I don't see anywhere that is selling them yet though?

We have been advised that the V12 Bass Clarinet reeds will be in supply in the European markets by mid-late July of this year.
From discussions we have had with Vandoren representatives the strength difference between the V12 and the traditional Bass Clarinet reeds will be the same as the regualr Bb reeds with the V12's being half a strength softer then the regular reeds. (ie, if you use strength 3 Vandoren Bass Clarinet reeds, you will need a 3.5 V12 bass clarinet reed).
The Rico Reserve Classic Bass Clarinet reeds have also been recently released in Europe and are another option for top line bass clarinet reeds.

Thanks for bringing that up, hadn't heard that either. According to WWBW the rico reserves will be available here on July 12th. Any reviews on them from European players? I hadn't seen anything come up here on the board.

The reed strength will be something to experiment with.. I really see little differences between Blue Box and V12. #3.0 feels only a 1/4 strength off, #3.5 feels exactly the same, and #4 is only a hair off. Using 4's now between both types, there's only a slight difference.
I'll get a box of #4's for bass whenever they're available and find the real difference.
