 Maintainence of Hand-woven String Ligature

Hello,

I was wondering if any Pyne String ligature users washed your ligature before? I have been using it for more than 5 years and i feel that it has totally lost its shape. However, i read that someone actually throw it into the washing machine to wash it and "toughen" it up..any comments on this?

Haven't used mine that much. Don't know what fibre it's made from. If cotton washing might shrink it. Maybe Rayon, maybe Polyester?? I'd cold water wash it with mild soap first.....and dry ON the mp with old reed attached.

Mine became pretty mishapen and too loose. I put it in hot water for about 30 seconds. It tightened it back up.
I actually don't use the Pyne ligature anymore. Now I use the Vandoren Klassik, which I find much easier to adjust.
