Heins concerto

A few months ago I played the Heins Concerto for Clarinet and Band with our community group. It is an ambitious work, and attempting it was probably biting off a little more than I could chew. But it was a lot of fun. If you've never heard this neat piece and are curious about it, here is a link to the performance:

For a difficult piece I thought you sounded great. I've never played it but I'm gonna check it out! Sounded like a lot of fun to play and you did very well.

Were you playing a Buffet? What kind of mouthpiece? Your setup seems to fit you very well.

Any more info on the piece and the composer?? What is his full name and who publishes it?

Nice playing btw, though I feel you sound needs to open up a bit more. To "tight" for my tastes.

It appears the music is available directly from him. If the $90 price quoted is for the parts, even on a CD in pdf form, IMO it's a pretty good deal.

Bob asked about equipment. The clarinet is a Ridenour, the mouthpiece was made by Dave McClune.

Peter, for $90 John Heins will send you hard copies of the score and parts.

Very nice playing! This recording brought back fond memories of playing this concerto about 15 years ago. At the time I thought it sounded like "Beauty and the Beast" (Disney version) meets the Nielsen Concerto. I still do, but I still like the piece.
