Bad. At least the beginner models (selling around 1000DM in Germany).

Brenda -
The consensus is that the student-level instruments are dreadful, but that the top of the line ones are pretty good. However, the company comes from the German tradition rather than the French, and their instruments probably sound and respond differently from the French-style instruments played in the U.S. Try before you buy.
Best regards.

Amati is a Czech brand that has had some hard times. They were in the ssr and were a state enterprise for a while. in 1998 they were purchased By Denak and the models were either replaced or redesigned adn the factories were retrofitted. They are now great instruments. THe student line horns arent to bad. Just ot as good as a yamaha. But their pro and intermediate horns are definately up their with the other companies like buffet. They do have a more german design but that can be a good thing. They have a focused and rich tone like most german horns. They also mainly produce full boehm.
