If WW&BW is offering at $12.95, that is the best price I have heard of. That is the price I paid at WW&BW when they first came out.
I have seem IMS & Muncy show them at $13.95 very recently. Regular stateside price appears to be $15.00 across the board.

Since you are in NZ I will add:
Consensus has it that strength should increase by 1/4 (one-quarter) from Vandoren Traditional or V-12. (&, IMO. the same would hold true for Alexander Classique or Zonda ... which for me, play at about the same as a V-12 strengthwise --- eg. Vandy V-12 4 = Zonda 4 = Classique 4)
To be perfectly honest, I haven't tried a 1/2 (one-half) step-up in strength & haven't heard anyone who has done so discuss this..
I have been told that Guy Legere (in Canada) will swap out with 30 days any purchased reeds that someone is UN-happy with strength-wise. However, I canNOT confirm the vailidity of that policy/statement.

Thanks. $12.50 sounds more sensible. (They perhaps cost a dollar to make! ) I'll try WW&B.... see what they charge for an overseas order.

The reeds are made in 1/4 increments of hardness but the sellers seem only to stock 1/2 increments.
I have tried a sax reed. It went as well as the best 5% of cane reeds. But it lookis as if the the $22.5 I paid may have been an opportunistic rip-off!

Don't know where you have been looking, Gordon. My local retailer has them in 1/4 strengths & the (most of the) catalogues do, as well as some small retailers like Clarinet Express (Walter Grabner). mw
ps if somebody were to pay $15-22 locally that ain't a lot different than $13. + $6.95 shipping & handling -- which is $20.

mw, I ordered 2. They were $22.50 each PLUS $6.50 freight which I found extraordinary considering they could easily have fitted, insied a folded piece of cardboard for adequate protection, inside a standard envelope. So the total cost was $51.50 when from another suplplier it could have been perhaps 2 x 12.50 + 1 = $26. I paid almost double this. Yes, I have been taken for a ride by Orpheus.
It was WW&BW who only list 1/2 increments. Do you know somewhere else with a $12.50 charge that has 1/4 increments? (and knows how to post in an envelope!) They will get my business!

Since these reeds are made in Canada I don't understand why you are not considering a Canadian distributor, such as The Clarinet Center, < http://www.pspriggs.com > who is also a Sponsor of this site. Price in US dollars to NZ, $15 & that price includes shipping. The price drops to $14 each if you order more than one!

Now it is because I was impressed with the $12.50 price on the WW&BW site. I am just hoping that is not a USA-only price.
I suppose I have a little reticence about dealing with Canada after the VERY difficult experience of trying to communicate accurately with Selmer Paris in France...... I have developed a reluctance to chance having to comminicate again to speakers of French. Can one assume that a Canadian supplier is fluent in English?

So far I've only tried the Alto sax reeds and was most impressed.
Do you know when Sop sax will be available too?
