 Gregory Smith mouthpieces

Hi,
since I have been reading postings on this board a lot of people have mentioned things about Gregory Smith Mouthpieces, and most of the people say that they have them are thrilled by them. So the I got the web-site for the mouthpieces and I read that he has played mouthpieces by Frank Kasper, then I read that he makes a mouthpiece that is similar to the old kasper mouthpiece and I just would like to know what do people think of the mouthpiece and does it play as well as the old kasper mouthpiece because I am very interested in buying one.
Thanks.

I think everyone can agree that mouthpiece & their styles are a very personal thing. We can also agree that Greg Smith has been very successful with his mouthpiece business & his service/assistance to the clarinet world. It is my understanding that Greg sells a number of mouthpieces.

I don't think anybody can you how well they will work for you, nor can you determine how well they will work for you because of the likes/dislikes of others. That said, why not contact Greg Smith & arrange for some trials of his mouthpieces so you can find out firsthand.

There are many Kaspars sitting (unplayed) in drawers & closets. If you want a souvenir, thats one thing. If you need a working mouthpiece, its entirely another.

Best of luck.

i have one of Greg.'s kasper and like it very much. Be aware that you will be put on a waiting list in order to get one. if you don't like it you can always send it back. Bet you will keep it.

I have a Smith mouthpiece. Not a Kaspar model, but just one of his professional models. I like it a lot. I tried about a dozen before I chose one, but I'm very happy with the one I have.

I have used Kasper-cicero,Kasper-Andover,Greg Smith Chedeville style #1,and Greg-Smith Kasper style.

The worst(I mean bad tones) one was Kasper-Andover. Kasper-cicero was
very good (I mean good tone) but it lacked in clear articulation. I like Greg Smith Kasper style mouthpiece.
Its charactersitcs are good articulation, good intonation, and above all superb tone.
Centered.foucused, and clear tones, and when necessary mellow.First emission of it made me recognize the difference very clearly.
