The two Luybens I have been using since '68 are stretched almost to the point of not being usable with Vandoren standard thickness reeds. I see that they are available from online sources. They appear to not have changed over the years, and is anybody still using them?

Most of my students use them, and I find that they let the reed vibrate as freely and easily as my Peter Spriggs ligature which costs a huge amount more.
If you like a significant amount of overtones, this is a great ligature.

I've been using them 40 years. I've tried just about everything that comes on the market, but always go back to what works best in my opinion. It's good to see there others that like them as well.

I use the Luyben - especially if I'm playing a work which requires fast articulation. It is my top ligature recommendation for all my beginner and intermediate students - great product at a great value. For any player at any level, it's a great spare ligature to have on hand.

I've always wanted to try these, especially since I'm a big fan of the Bonade but find the slippage annoying. Anyone know of a UK store that stocks them, or somewhere in US that has cheap shipping?

Also have been using them for 40 years. The current crop seem as good as the originals. Don't use them exclusively but they are great ligatures.

I changed out the screws. I didnt like the metal ones that came with it. I use the plastic ones from a Gigliotti (sp?). They stay more secure and the little thingy you turn is wider.
