What do you think of Bliss Clarinets?
On a smaller note, what do you think of the various mouthpieces and ligatures out there? And what are your favourites?

I play Buffet clarinets and have no knowledge of the "Bliss" clarinet. As for mouthpieces & ligatures, there are lots of choices available and the real trick is to find a set-up that works well for you. The bottom line is that it's not as much about the equipement, but more about *you*. The Bliss clarinet is probably a quality instrument but it will only play as well as you are able to. A Selmer, Yamaha, other Leblanc or Buffet clarinet might do just as well for you--but in the end, it is YOU. Rely more on practice than equipement.
FWIW: I play vintage, 1960's Buffet R13 A & Bb clarinets, a Buffet E-11 C clarinet, a Yamaha 681 Eb clarinet w/Fobes extention & a Buffet Prestige low C bass clarinet. Mouthpieces: vintage Chicago Kaspar #14 with Vandoran Optimum lig; Selmer HS** Eb mpc with Winslow lig; Grabner CX_BS bass mpc with Winslow lig.
Forestone reeds on all sop clarinets and Legere on bass.
Forestone reeds on all my saxophones as well.

"Bliss" clarinets are student/intermediate models from LeBlanc. They are a good option for student clarinets. Some people consider the intermediate Bliss to be the best intermediate model currently on the market.

Why not?
The problem with "intermediate" clarinets is that they eat market share away from the more expensive models, plain and simple. And that's the dilemma the manufacturers are in, and they try their best to dissuade the "pro" clientele from buying an intermediate or - gasp! - a student horn.

I've never tried a Bliss clarinet so I have no opinion of them but I will say this about mouthpieces and ligatures. If you ask 20 pros which are their favorites you might well get 20 answers. There are so many quality mouthpieces and ligatures on the market today it really shouldn't matter what one or two people think does it? It all depends of the player. ESP http://eddiesclarinet.com
