In the poco sostenuto section would you recommend using the overblown "b"
for the high g and the overblown "Bb " for the high F# for a smoother transition?
Thanks!

Whatever is best in tune on your instrument. Remember, you're playing octaves with the second player and it's both of your responsibility to play in tune. Don't sacrifice one for the other smooth and out of tune doesn't make it. The fingering you're asking about is good if it's in tune with your second. ESP http://eddiesclarinet.com

What kind of clarinet do use have? If it is a Buffet R13, I've never had any luck over blowing the notes, in reference. As usual, Eddie Palankers advice is dead on. My only other suggestion is to take about 10 minutes and play it with the 2nd clarinetist before the actual rehearsal. This beats having the conductor stop and take the time to work it out any issues.

Another fingering you might try for smoothness, assuming you can play it in tune, is overblowing the side Bb -Eb key along with the middle finger LH, the normal F#, and go to that F#. Check it out, it's on my fingering chart, along with many other alternatives, on my website. http://eddiesclarinet.com
