My daughter (9 years old) is interested in learning to play the clarinet. I have my old one that was old even when I used it way back when. It would need to be cleaned and overhauled (est. cost $225). What do you think it is worth "as is" compared to overhauled? Should only need cleaned, new pads and seals at ends. Thank you for any help.

If you get it overhauled for $225, that's about what it will be worth. As-is, if it's playable and not stinky (yuk!), then just leave it alone and let your 9-year-old have fun with it, no worries.

The '400', a rebadged Selmer Signet I believe, is worth about $75 'as is', $150-200 overhauled. Hope this helps.
