Altissimo for intermediates

I'm wonder what's the highest note that you normally see in intermediate band repertoire? I'm under the impression that it wouldn't get much above D but I could be wrong.

I'd expect to see some 'E's, but I suppose it depends what you mean by 'intermediate'. 'E' is a common upper limit for composers and arrangers who don't want to stretch the instrument. Next stop is 'G', and then the sky's the limit

I definitely have always found the 'E' to be about the highest note that I feel really confident and solid on. The F and G are very doable but I always found them difficult to control.

By 'intermediate' I meant a so-so high school band or an unusually good middle school one. In the latter case, I'd expect that only the first clarinet section would be expected to play the E.

Certainly if I were writing or arranging for either a school band or youth orchestra, I'd stop at E.
