 Just bought a Backun Moba
Author: Megham

I had an unusual situation where my r-13 greenline played well in tune with itself, but was consistently flat. I even had others play it with their mp with similar results. Yesterday, I had the opportunity to try out different barrels to see if I could bring up the pitch and bring my 12ths a little closer. I tried two Scott barrels, three Backun fatboys (lovely sound!), two Backun traditionals (good intonation, not my favorite sound), and one Moba. It was totally worth trying all of them out. The Moba I tried sounds fantastic and is very well in tune. It is a great match for my instrument and I bought it. I just wanted to say that one should definitely try several barrels in order to find the right one. Even several barrels of the same model. They are not all the same.

I've been preaching that about barrels and mouthpieces as long as I could remember. That's one reason I loose respect for some teachers that insist all their students use the same equipment. Good for you? ESP http://eddiesclarinet.com
