 On-line courses
Author: runner

I need graduate credits to renew my licensure in Ohio. I see that many colleges offer courses on-line.
How do these work? I presume there are lectures to view on-line. Papers ,I presume , are sent via attachment. Is there any on-campus visits for tests?
Does anyone have some input to help me?

Hello

I have taken a few online classes before myself. Usually the first and last class have to meet. The first is to make sure you are you and not your friend. The last class is usually for an exam.

The actual class online might be different. Some have online lectures, others just have reading content. Some of them even have a web cam requirement for when you take tests, the teacher must see you. and yes, papers are through email or whatever online system the college uses for online classes.

I generally like them because I don't have to worry about conflicts with other classes, and I can often work ahead (or behind) of the class schedule. I.E. I can do two to three weeks of work the first week and then not worry about it for awhile.

I am currently enrolled in online courses at Central Michigan University. The courses I am taking use online lectures, podcasts, PowerPoint, and bulletin boards for discussion. If a final is required for the course, you can arrange for a proctored examination. The online courses I am taking require papers as their finals, so I am not currently required to have the proctored exams.

I'm taking the course work 'for fun', not to fullfill ant particular requirements of my job - one of the pleasures of life when the kids are gone and you have a little time on your hands. I'll end up with a new degree, but that's a byproduct, not an end unto itself at my stage of life [grin] .

Thanks for responding. You have given some insight into what I could expect.
