Case to fit used 1929 Buffet-Crampon Bass Clarinet
Author: Robin S

I'm looking for case options for a refurbished 1929 Buffet-Crampon "Evette & Schaeffer" Bass Clarinet. I have a new case but it doesn't fit. Any ideas of case options are much appreciated.

Is this a "shortie" bass clarinet with range to low E only?

You could take some padding/foam to make this case work too.

I don't know if it is a "shortie" bass clarinet (it's for my daughter) but it does have range only to low E.

To make the new case work? The new case presses against the keys and seems like it will bend them if closed.

If the range of the instrument is only down to low E, then by definition your bass clarinet is a "shortie" and can use a slightly smaller case than a modern bass clarinet (which has a standard range to low Eb).

Apparently I was mistaken, the bass clarinet goes down to low Eb, and it definitely doesn't fit in the case that it was sent with. We've had her clarinet teacher try fitting it as well as the owner of the music store/instrument repair person. So, I'm looking for a case that maybe has a more flexible foam interior that could accommodate an older model of bass clarinet. Thanks again.

What case dimensions do you need?
