When you can hold your own with Eddie Daniels, it's a sign you've arrived.

It all sounds the same (E.D.) - every time.

I can't make it sound like that once, but I wish Eddie would change his style ever, ever, ever......

I don't think Eddie sounds the same every time. He is the type of player that avoids excessive effects- bends, growls, multiphonics, et cetera- and focuses more on eighth-note lines, but he certainly does not sound the same on every solo.

I find Eddie to be much more harmonically and rhythmically interesting in the this clip than the other player- who sounds like a Benny Goodman clone with more chops.

Wow this is all around great playing. Both soloists and the band. Wonderful. That Bernhard guy should be better known here in the States. Is he still playing? Never heard of him until this clip. He needs a better manager or PR guy.

Saying Eddie plays everything the same is rather unfair.

Reminds me of the Phil Woods story where he was playing a job and playing hard bebop. On a break, some jackass from the audience comes up to him and says he's copying Charlie Parker and isn't doing anything new.

So Woods hands him the saxophone and says "go ahead..let's see if you can sound like Charlie Parker."

...and when you can't it's not a sign that you haven't.
