Nope did not work that way for me Paul.
I don't understand France and from the pictures I can't tell what is supposed to be carried in the section between the Bb and A clarinets in the double case. It seems to me that the space there for extra accessories is pretty limited and either there is only space for two barrels or they are supposed to be upright in the middle section. Space for only 2 barrels makes it in my opinion almost useless.
I also hate cases where the bell is attached to the lower joint in the case so just this one detail makes this case not an option.
I've been using double trekking for almost 10 years and only once replaced it and the new version I got over a year ago seems to be much better made and is holding up very well so I guess that the next one I will get hopefully in over 10 years from now on will also be trekking.
Only downside at least for me is that the case could be a little bit smaller and I rarely use the back pocket but other than that it's the obvious choice in my mind.

It looks like that middle section stores 4 barrels, side by side.
