Last night while going through a doorway I caught the tip rail of my Pomarico 3 bass mouthpiece on the door catch which shattered it. A heart stopping moment and then to find I didn't have my backup mouthpiece in my bass case only made things worse. Luckily one of the other players had a bass with her (whoch she wasn't playing) and that had a Vandoren B45 which got me through last night's concert, but I wasn't used to it.
I assumed my old B46 was at home in a box where I keep all manner of mouthpieces, but no. Just as well I kept the stock plastic Buffet mouthpiece as I had to use that today when we did Mahler's 1st ths afternoon - again I wasn't confident with it, but it did save the day.
So now I've only got the Buffet doorstop as a mouthpiece until I get a new one. But now I'm in the market for a bass mouthpiece that does mean I'll have to try out a load of them (and not just crystal ones).

Check with Walter Grabner. Sorry to hear about the crystal. I had something like that happen to my O'Brien ages ago. It was a tad traumatic at the time.

Get a Behn Ouverture as a trustworthy and not too expensive (backup) piece. Mine's worth every cent.

What about the Howarth "wall of mouthpieces"? I seem to remember you don't actually work at the retail shop, but i'd lay a bet they have something to keep you happy?
