Hey i was wondering how to exactly put the reeds into the glass case. you put them flat but do you put the tips of the reeds toward the soft spongy side or the heels?

I have always put the reeds in with the heel toward cushioned end and the tips facing out. I find it easier and also much less likely to break the tips. On the other hand, I have seen some do it the opposite.

Note how the glass is slightly angled to compensate for the thickness of the heel; that way the cushion presses evenly across the whole back of the reed when you face the tips out.

Note: This is why I ALWAYS thoutht this was a backwards case. I number the heels of the reeds and would appreciate being able to see those numbers when I open the case.

If you use the numbers to order your rotation, why not just put them in the right sequence every time you put the box away, i.e. slide them all to the left and put the one you just took off on the right? If it's for some other reason couldn't you mark the base on top of the reed? Or if it's simply an insurmountable problem, one could use a different style reed case.

Yes, insurmountable. I need to see the numbers ON THE BUTT OF THE REED.
