It's not clarinet-related, but many will rejoice at this.
The Vienna Philharmonic has finally named Albena Danailova as its 1st female concertmaster!

Yup--that old glass ceiling is finally beginning to develop serious cracks and is beginning to come down--in the more "forward thinking" societies, at least.

I must say that there isn't much consolation in these news. I thing about all the Austrian weman who could be musicians and had to quit because they wouldn't get a chance to express their talent and even more important- make their living.
It is not accidently that this women is not an Austrian.
