I'm a doubler who is having particular issues with the left hand second finger not seating on the key (seats higher. leaking on the lower side, due to my small hand finger stretch.) My playing would benefit to have just that key filled/made into plateau, but what would be the disadvantages? Thanks.

Provided the conversion is done well there should be no disadvantage.
The LH2 fingerplate and E vent will have to be seperated and linked by an adjusting screw - just filling in the ring will mean you lose the long Bb as both the vent and LH2 chimney will close with the RH rings, so it'll have to be made like the fingerplate on an alto clarinet.
Long Bb can still be played, but the fingerplate for LH2 will remain open. It will be an expensive comversion due to cutting the bedplace for LH2 and making the fingerplate.
The existing ring key can be adapted (the pad cup and bridge key can be kept) to take a pinned steel onto which the LH2 fingerplate will be mounted onto, and it will close the E vent via an adjusting screw. The ring key itself can be converted into a fingerplate, but it will need a new key barrel and foot fitted to it.
I'll draw a diagram of what can be done and post it later on.

He's specialised in modification for handicapped players. It's a very complicated field and he is one of the most experienced specialists in Europe.
But he is very interested in special handicaps or disadvantages and answers all questions well explained. This could be help you to decide a basic solution.
