 unusual tonguing issue
Author: wolfedp

I recently realized that I have been tonguing incorrectly for years. I use the bottom of my tongue instead of the top. I've heard James Zimmerman actually does this successfully but it is causing some voicing issues for me. I can tongue fairly quickly, around 135-140 but the attack style is inconsistent and I don't like the sound of my attack a lot of the time. I'm trying to fix the problem by tonguing some baermann exercises really slowly, making sure to use the correct side of the tongue. Any additional advice in fixing the problem? has anyone else encountered this? Zimmerman is the only person I have heard of that actually uses the bottom of his tongue successfully as his primary tonguing technique.
