Chorale and Danza by Vaclav Nelhybel
Author: rob v.

Hello,
I am trying to find a recording of Chorale and Danza by Vaclav Nelhybel. This piece is written for Clarinet Choir. I came across a CD by (I think) the Kansai Clarinet Society. Unfortunately, for some reason I am unable to navigate through the website.

Any help in locating a recording of this piece AND other Clarinet Choir pieces would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

U.S. Air Force Clarinet Choir recording is on the Aspire CD

http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/aspire/id151484292

it has a fun but necessary alto clarinet part. :D

I don't know of too many other 'clarinet choir' pieces. Most of the other stuff I have played has been transcriptions like Jupitar, 1st suite in Eb, and a few string serenades, as well as the Italian in Algiers.

The University of Florida clarinet studio has released a clarinet choir CD.

As well, the old Harvey Hermann group has a few recordings on its website, although the group ended some time ago. (3 or 4 ICA magazines there was an entire article on this group. If you interested and no one else can tell exactly which one it was, I can look it up on monday.)

The recordings themselves aren't very good, but it sounds like a wonderful group.

It is one of my favorite ensembles, so I will be interested as well with what else gets submitted here.

Good luck.

Hello,

I will look up the article number and issue later today.

BUT ICA has posted a tentative schedule and it lists several clarinet choirs. You could perhaps check them out as well.

Li’l Ricki and the Licorice Sticks
Houston Symphonic Band Clarinets
Los Angeles Clarinet Choir
New Horizons Clarinet Choir
Dallas Wind Symphony Clarinets
Lone Star Clarinet Choir

Hi - I started a small high-school age clarinet choir here in Eugene Oregon and we are working on Chorale and Danza right now! The Aspire CD is the best recording I've heard of it. Also, I was a private student of Harvey Hermann's and member of his clarinet choirs way back when. They were wonderful ensembles and he was an inspiring teacher.

Although they don't have the Chorale and Danza, Walking Frog Records is one of the first places to check for band recordings. http://www.walkingfrog.com/home.php
