Hello,
I was wondering if anyone can recommend someone to work on, possibly overhaul, my selmer 67 bass clarinet. A lot of the pads are sticky and most of the corks are worn and the spring tensions are loose. The problem is it seems everyone I call or email is busy or doesn't work on selmers. I have tried Walter Grabner and Brannen.
The local repair shops don't seem to be able to adjust or work on bass clarinets very well. I have already had several unsuccessful trips to them for other small issues.
Thanks!

If you're on the West Coast, or even if you're not, I'm sure Daniel Deitch would do it.
When I picked up my R13 to from him after he fixed some issues (a three-day turnaround, BTW, and a horn that feels like new for well under $200!), I brought along the Selmer 9 bass I play in our community band, and he worked magic on it in about 10 minutes. (I can't afford to give it the overhaul it needs, since it belongs to the high school, but he made a tremendous difference, and didn't charge me!).
You can reach him at (415) 221-2735, or check out his website: www.danieldeitch.com. If it helps any, he told me that the bass clarinet is the instrument he most enjoys playing.

John Butler in Sugarland, TX has overhauled my Selmer Model 40 ontra-alto and Leblanc Model 340 Contrabass both of which have resonators as my Leblanc Model 430S BC does. His work is impecable and I believe his site is Cork and Pad!

I live in the Baltimore MD area and I use someone that is "fantastic" He's overhauled my Selmer Bass clarinet, by Buffet Bb and A and Selmer Bb clarinets as well. He does incredibly meticulous work. His name is Roger Young. I had my bass done about four years ago and it hasn't needed a single thing done to it since, and I'm the bass clarinetist of the Baltimore Symphony. If you want his info e-mail me and I'll give it to you. ESP http://eddiesclarinet.com

Just outside Nashville TN is a guy named Jason Onks. He specializes in oboe repair and I think the meticulousness of oboe repair makes him just right for clarinets. He has done all of my clarinets starting with my bass. His prices are very reasonable and he is a very nice guy.
