I have a Clari-met. Made by Penzel Mueller & Co. L.I City New York. Made in USA. Double walled internal taper. Needs some restoration. Replating, pads and cork need replacement. No mouthpiece.
I acquired this instrument some years ago and would like to have some idea what the history and value of it might be. As there seem to few around, I cannot find much information. I am not interested in selling it at this time.

...first I thought you were pulling my leg, but there's indeed a clari-met. (one learns something new every day).
Your best bet re information abou metal clarinets is probably http://www.silver-clarinet.com/. There's some information about your model as well.
According to this site, yours is a somewhat rare instrument, but nonetheless a novelty item of some sort - you'd better keep it for yourself, the marketplace isn't all that big.
Merry restoring!

Double-walled Clari-Mets are desired instruments. I've heard, though, that some problems or types of damage on a double-walled clarinet are basically impossible to fix. In excellent cosmetic, mechanical and playing condition, I'd estimate the value of a Clari-Met over $1000.
