I am looking to purchase a Vandoren M13 lyre mp, but am not sure which one may be better. Does anyone have experience with this mp? Apparently the only difference is the angle, but I am not sure if the sharper angle of the traditional is any better than that of the profile 88. Thanks for your help.

It's a matter of "feel." Though, the M13Lyre is a more of a LONGER lay moupthpiece so it may feel better to be able to place a bit more mouthpiece into your mouth with the 88.

This is simply for comfort. If you can, try both models. The mouthpiece is the same but one might feel more comfortable than the other.

Thanks both of you. Unfortunately, the music stores around here don't seem to stock them so it is difficult for me to try without buying. If anyone out there uses one of the mouthpieces, I would be very interested in your opinion of it.

Huh? Would you look at that. LOL. Thanks for clearing that up. That really simplify things for me.

Whatever you want you should go to one of the big mail order stores, Muncys, WW brass wind, Weiner etc. They will send you 3-4 on a trail basis. They usually charge you for one on your credit card and charge you for shipping and a nominal restocking fee if you don't purchase any of them. Always try several because no two mouthpieces of any kind play exactly alike. ESP http://eddiesclarinet.com
