Hi
Does anyone know what color fabric the Buffet cases of the early 1970s were lined in? I have a case restoration project I'm working on. I know companies tend to stick with a 'typical' color or two. Thanks.

Possibly blue (my old Eb clarinet came in a Buffet case with blue lining) - but it could also have been beige/tan.

They were blue for a long, long time, probably from 1940 all the way until at least the early 1970's. Then there were some red ones in the mid to late 1970's. The tan-lined ones were early 80's.

Agreed. The clarinet cases from the first half of the seventies were blue-lined.

susieray,
I love the purple-lined one I got from you last year. I don't know if this has the original lining or not, but I guess it is mid or late 70s vintage rather than early 70s.

Yes, I have a Buffet from 1970s and the case interior is a very nice blue.
Unlike my Normandy 10 case which is black!

Susie's response is probably correct. I call the tan...gold, however. The blue is what I call Royal Blue and purple is a popular color today at fabric shops.

Imre,
I forgot about the purple lined ones! That was definitely the original
lining...I have seen a few of those, both single and double. They all
came with 1972-73 instruments....they must have been a special
edition of some sort that were only made for a couple of years~
