Hey all. I have a questio about this peice. I have the regualar A clarient part for this as well as the B flat transposed part. Is there such a difference between the 2 instruments that the A is preffered (the peice was originally written for A). Both are equal difficulty and I find that I prefer the B flat as I don't have much experience on A.

Play it on the A clarinet.
It's an easy part. There are no exposed solos.
A good piece to gain experience on the A clarinet.

Are there any low Es in the clarinet part? Publishers often print a Bb part these days when the original is for an A clarinet. If there's no low E in the original A part then do what ever you feel at ease playing. ESP http://eddiesclarinet.com

With a quick glance over the parts, Cl 1 has no Low Es, but looks a lot easier on A that it would be on Bb. Cl 2 starts with Low Es, in the Bassoon/Clarinet opening. I didn't look much further past the first page for the 2nd part though.

In the Luck's Music Library version I've got, for 2nd cl, A cl has low(written) E's before K, measures 260 - 271; Bb is transcribed to 1st line Eb's. The A cl part is much easier key-wise - a bit of 4 sharps, rest in C, F, D
