I know that Buffet R13 used to be Buffet's top of the line clarinet, but it isn't anymore. Does anyone know when this change happened?
Thanks!

The R13 was mostly their top seller in the U.S. from the mid-50s. I think the R.C. was contemporary with it in France and European countries that used French-style equipment. The next model I remember superseding the R13 here was the Prestige, which appeared sometime in the 1970s or so and was designed and marketed to be a higher-end R13.

The standard RC and S1 models were brought out in the early 70's to complement the existing R13.
The first real move to suplant them was I believe in the early 80's when the Prestige variant was introduced. The first upgrade was I think actually the RC Prestige but the R13 Prestige came out very shortly after. The S1 model ceased production about 1979 and no Prestige version was made but since then various other "prestige level" models such as DG and Festival were introduced for a period and now of course to upstage them (at least pricewise) the TOSCA.
