 Brannenization?
Author: Benny

Hi all! I was considering buying a horn from IMS and thinking about getting it Brannenized. I've heard lots of good things about this, so I was wondering if anyone has a Brannenized horn and what they think of it. Thanks!

I was a bit disappointed that they wouldn't touch my 1966 R-13 . . . too old for them to mess with.

Other than that, I haven't heard anyone complain about their work.

Guilty as charged! The Brannens have worked on two clarinets for me, a Yamaha A and a 1996 vintage R-13. Their pads are impeccable. Their regulation beautiful. A pleasure to work with; Bill & Linda are very professional in all their dealings. I think that they definitely improved the sound of the R-13, whether that was through tone hole work or slight changes in key heighth/regulation (it matters not). YES, they improved the horn.Good luck to you. mw

They overhauled my R13 and I may as well have bought a new instrument. It plays absolutely WONDERFULLY now. I would reccomend them in a heartbeat!!

Yes, they know what they are doing and do it well. They are very thorough and go the whole nine-yards, even when you might be ambivalent about paying so much and having so much work done. I've respected their judgement since their work holds up for a very long time and I've found that after an initial tuning, subsequent visits have only been for very minor maintenance. I especially like the way they regulate the key action and rings....very comfortable and predictable. Crystal

I don't know what the Brannens' work is like. But my A clarinet was worked on by Tim Clark and i can't imagine a better playing A.
