 Mouthpiece for small mouth

I have a small mouth(just two inches wide) and have difficulty with taking enough length of mouthpiece to allow full vibration of reeds.Several years ago,I read Keith Stein's book 'Art of Clarinet Playing' and found the upper teeths should be placed near the tip and the lower lip should be placed lower.By applying this practice, this difficulty of mine became lessened.Maybe this was all the more lessened by the Kasper-Cicero mouthpiece, which I used then and has smaller diameter(big outer taper except table). But I lost this precious mouthpiece.I do not like to buy another one(too expensive now).

Is there any person who has same kind of problem and found a solution(maybe finding a mouthpiece)?

I have a friend who has a really small mouth. She plays the Morgan mouthpiece, which is shaped like a saxophone mouthpiece, so you don't have to open your mouth very wide. Also, the Vandoren profile 88 mouthpieces have a similar shape.

Vandoren's Profile 88 design might help you. The inside chamber is the same as their regular mouthpieces but the outside dimension is less.

Pam,Dee:Thanks.
I have a Morgan mouthpiece, which upper part is very flat. Its tip shape does not fit with those of my Zonda,Rico-Grand Concert,or V12.When I play this mouthpiece sometimes a squeak occur. The reason for this,I thought,is that I should be accustomed to the new balance between upper and lower pressures.Maybe your friend have the same problem. Profile 88 may be another solution.I will try one.

I have a smaller mouth and I play a Premier by Hite. I get a much better sound and it is much easier on my jaw than some others I have tried. The salesman said that a lot of students like this mouthpiece. Maybe it is because it fits their undeveloped mouths better?!? It is also reasonably priced and I like to tone I get with it. Be sure to use a better reid. I like Rico Royals. Don't use just plain Rico's. I am by no means an expert on this subject...so try the other suggestions too.

I am by all means amateur, playing flute,clarinet,alto-sax,soprano-sax, and now trumpet.
Maybe Hite is good. However I went to a shop to find profile 88 Vandoren V40.Then I found a 'Michell Alignon'.I found this made in Germany. Its looking is really made from Zinner blanks!

I my opinion, besides choosing Vandoren Profile 88,
it could be interesting to try a close mouthpiece
like the Vandoren M13 Lyre Profile 88 (A440 pich).
This mouthpiece that have a Tip opening of 102,
could be more appropriate to your necessities that
a open mouthpiece like Vandoren B40 (Tip opening 119.5).
I would like to know wich is the result of your test.

Venancio
