Hey... I'm starting a (rather unconventional) arrangement of the first movement of the Mozart Clarinet Concerto. The first step is getting the whole movement into notation software, which, while not the end of the world, is a bit time-consuming.
As it's a darn popular piece in these parts, I was wondering if anyone could send me or point me to a version that's already been entered into Finale or Sibelius, or even midi or MusicXML. Full orchestra or piano reduction would both be fine.
If all goes well, I'll plan to post a recording of the arrangement after its tentative performance in May. Traditionalists may not approve...
Thanks!
-Alex

As long as the original is a good printed copy, software does exist that scan a score and put it directly into notation

I have the Basset Clarinet and A Clarinet parts for the 1st movement on Finale 2009, if you want it, I can email it to you.

Finale Songwriter is suppose to be able to scan a score onto it. I have downloaded the demo but have yet to try that out. Perhaps it will help.

Scanning with Finale products is not the best choice, as the OCR is not perfect - in fact none of my scans worked well.

Go here, it's about halfway down the page in .MUS format...not sure whether that is directly readable by Finale or Sibelius, but I think it is.

.mus files are Finale files. The (NAD) indicates that the Finale file has notes, articulations and dynamics, unlike midi files which just have notes. Oliver's website is a treasure, IMO. Mark keeps a mirror of it here but, in the past, it has not always been up to date. Oliver's version is full orchestra. I just loaded the first movement into Finale PrintMusic and it worked just fine.
BTW, FWIW, the scanning software that came with the 2009 version of Printmusic has actually worked pretty well for me the few times I have used it.
Best regards,
jnk

Photoscore by Nueratron will read a PDF or scanned copy of a score and convert it to Sibelius format. Works very well.

There is an inexpensive ($49) music notation program called Noteworthy Composer. The full orchestral version of the Mozart concerto for this product can be downloaded for free at nwc-scriptorium.org/.
Perhaps software is available that will convert this file format to Sibelius or Finale. If not, Noteworthy Composer makes acceptable printouts and may be adequate for what you need to do.
A free trial download is available from noteworthysoftware.com that you can play with.
