I've never seen flavorreeds. What varieties do they come in? They don't sound very professional, but interesting. I wish Vandoren would make something like that! My dog, who chews up reeds that fall on the ground, would enjoy them! :o)

I forget the flavors but they are awful reeds. I allowed my daughter to buy one last year (she was 10 1/2 at the time) and SHE said: Don't ever get these again. They don't play well at all.
Besides that the flavor only lasts through about one or two sessions.

I have students who come through occasionally with flavored reeds. They don't play well at all. I tell my students if you want candy, go buy candy, if you want to sound good then get a reed that makes you sound good.

I found them as a good incentive for a music bingo or practice minutes winner, since they are not easily available for the kids to buy, and the kids thought they were cool, but said that they wouldn/t want to play on them more than just the one reed :-)

When i was in high school it was a "cool" thing to have cinnamon toothpicks--toothpicks soaked in cinnamon oil. You'd keep one in your mouth and look cool, too (!). Well, you can see where this is going. Yup, i tried it. You've heard of playing hot licks before? The wintergreen oil was better, but still pretty intense.
Can't do that with the Legere reeds...

Uh-oh, I can just picture the advertisements when the Aromatherapy folks decide to get involved with reeds. They'll probably use some food coloring in there, too: "Blueberry, for those melancholy blues players...." Gag me with a spoon. Either that or hire me to write the ads. ;-)
