I just played on it for the first time today. Clarion C to E chromatically have a ringing noise to them. Is this what's referred to as 'ring'?
It's a great clarinet with a great low register response, but it's not quite that huge of a difference from my beginner Normandy 4 (Which is my main clarinet which I use for professional purposes. I'm not exactly well-funded enough to buy my own R13.)
What can there be done about the slight ringing noise? Nothing? Take into consideration it's not my instrument, so nothing drastic please.

Is it like a metallic buzz?
Check the gaps between the side/trill keys on the top joint aren't touching along their length as well as the gaps between the LH F#/C# and E/B levers, and check there's some kind of silencing material (ie. thin plastic or pad skin) covering the pins on the ends of the LH levers where they fit into the holes in connecting levers.

I agree with Chris or it can simply be a slightly lose rod or any key that "rings" when you play certain notes and needs tightening if you can identify it. ESPhttp://eddiesclarinet.com
PS. You play "proffesional" jobs with a Normandy
