I have a sixth grade clarinet student who has downloaded a lot of music he hears on his video games. Since I never play video games I had no idea there was music that is ,obviously, motivational.
I asked him how he searches for it. I will write down the steps next week.
The clarinet music is in concert C, which, requires a lot of b naturals and c sharps above the break. The music is also rhythmically complex, but he is highly motivated to learn the technique.
It is amazing what we learn from our students!

I've (ahem) definitely played a few video game tunes for some fun. And my friend has plenty of video game arrangements for piano.
If it motivates them and will help them learn, go for it!

One thing about videogame tunes, they're /always/ catchy.

Our youngest son spent ages this year looking for and practising the music for Halo3 on the piano.
I took him for his Grade3 exam a few weeks ago and in the practice room before the exam, he belted out his three pieces then started on the Halo3 music! Kids!

PS I don't like the game myself - everything went downhill after Duke3D ;-)
