Does anyone know of a source for holiday music for the clarinet? Looking for "Frosty the Snowman" and like pieces................simple pieces a two month beginer might learn over the next 30 days.
Thanks ~ jerry

Essential Elements has a Christmas collection for beginners in full band arrangements.
We're using it in my 6th grade classes.

I think the Standard of Excellence series has some also with CD accompanant. Maybe not bigginers level but I've seen some Christmas music books with CD accompamant on eBay also.

If you are playing alone (no accompanment) you might simply try one of those holiday songbooks that seem to be around this time of year. (Our local paper publishes one each year.) Just play the melody line (if the key and range are within what you have learned so far.) Good luck, Happy holidays and keep playing!

I would suggest trying to play them by ear. Besides not having to mess with written music, you acquire the ability to improvise, the music comes out more natural and less choppy IMHO. In order not to wind up in the rut of playing in only one key, try improvising in several keys. This helps when playing with other instruments in combo.

Thanks all ............ did a search on google for "essential elements clarinet" and found exactly what I was looking for. Now let's hope that what I ordered, I can understand when I see it in music lingo ........................seeing as how I just started to learn to read music and have no idea what scale I play in (the only ones I think I know are G & F). Have no idea of how to get from one octave to another and don't know how to use the register.
Playing by ear? forget it for now. I know what you mean about playing "choppy" and *needing* the music to play. I learned to play happy birthday (the only thing I can play - but forgot already) in Sep. for my daughter's 40th, by reading music that someone wrote for me in a key that I could follow. Then I memorized it so I would not need the "music" in order to play it for her - does any of this make sense? Anyway.............
Thanks ~ jerry
